https://www.earthday.org/ This year’s Earth Day on April 22 – part of the wider Earth Week running from April 16 to 22 – focuses on the theme “Restore Our Earth. More than one billion individuals have participated in the mission of driving positive action for our planet since Earth Day first took place in 1970. In 2009, The United Nations finally decided to announce their decision to make the 22nd of April the International Mother Earth Day! You can schedule a day for tree planting, recycle and collect as much plastic and metal as possible or just gather and talk about different environmental issues. Due to Covid restrictions we cannot arrange any activities for this date but we wanted to spread the word that on April 22nd you can show love for your planet and it WILL make a difference. The Death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

The Death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Published: 9 Apr 21

In tribute to the very sad passing of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, aged 99, it is with deepest sorrow that on the Petwyn today, the Union Jack Flag was lowered to half-mast. Prince Philip was just 2 months shy of reaching his 100th birthday. As well as being the longest-serving consort in British history, a Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Prince Philip dedicated his life to our country - from a distinguished career in the Royal Navy during the Second World War to his decades of service as the Duke of Edinburgh. Even as we mourn his passing, we should be uplifted by his example. West Moors Town Council extend their deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family. This is a period of public grief when people may wish to express their sorrow and under normal circumstances, the signing of Books of Condolence and the laying of floral tributes would be encouraged, but unfortunately, that is not possible due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic. We do, however, encourage the public to pay their respects safely from home using online Books of Condolence. For example; Dorset Echo Book of Condolence www.dorsetecho.co.uk/ my/ccn/assignment/J9pD73nm/ Church of England Book of Condolence www.churchofengland.org/remembering-his-royal-highness-prince-philip.
