West Moors has a
basic bus service during the daytime Monday to Saturday & a
'three-bus-each-way' service on Sundays / Public Holidays. The operators
serving the community are listed below: for
details of timetables & routes, follow the appropriate link. In
addition, on this site there are 'composite' departure timetables
provided to summarise the services running from West Moors & from a
selection of other points along the route of the X6 - they can be found
on the Bus Information page ( opens in a new window ). [ For school buses - use the School Transport page on the Dorset County site. If this doesn't work, go to the main Dorset Council site [choose "Children & families"] and follow " Schools " - " School transport " ; for community transport services, see the entry under " Support & Advice Services " elsewhere.]
Morebus (routes X6, 38 & 13)
X6:
Bournemouth ( Town & Hospital / not all journeys ) - Ringwood -
Verwood - Three Cross - West Moors - Trickett's Cross - Ferndown -
Longham - Bear Cross - Wallisdown - Poole hospital - Poole; Hourly Mondays to Saturdays (except PH): three journeys each way Sundays & Public Holidays.
[ Service X6 can be used to access both Poole Hospital & Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH): for Poole, take the journey in the Ferndown direction and Poole is reached in about 45 minutes. For Royal Bournemouth Hospital,
take the journey in the Verwood & Ringwood direction - many proceed
beyond Ringwood without a change of vehicle, but if required, change to
the X3 in Ringwood (ask the driver if unclear): the journey time will
be about an hour. ]
38 (Ringwood Road/St. Leonard's stops only): Ringwood - Ashley Heath - St. Ives - St. Leonards - Trickett's Cross - Heatherlands Estate - Ferndown; Four or Five per day Mondays to Saturdays (except PH): no Sunday / Public Holiday service.
13 (access from Ferndown **only** - connect via X6 and 38 as above): Wimborne - Stapehill - Ferndown - Parley - Moordown - Bournemouth (railway station & Square); roughly half-hourly Mondays to Saturdays (except PH); Sunday/Public Holiday hourly.
[ For
School / College bus services provided by Morebus/Damory under contract
(including the C18/Brockenhurst College, F1/Ferndown Upper), see the Morebus site
and follow the 'drop-down' "Plan your journey", then use the left-hand
index for "Schools and Colleges" for maps and timetable information. ]
Damory *(SA1 / Sainsbury's & various school contracts)
SA1: to/from Sainsbury's Tricketts Cross (on contract to Sainsbury's - so you won't find the timetable published easily); Once a week ONLY, on a Thursday (except PH over Christmas / New Year): check with store or driver for details.
[ For the Damory timetables serving local schools, and all other school / college-based transport timetables, use the Dorset Council School transport web page.
* Note that the
'Damory' fleetname is now coupled with that of "Excelsior" &
"Tourist" coach operations, all owned by the GoSouthCoast (GSC) bus
operating group - along with Morebus - above. So you might see coaches /
buses turn up with any of these names on the side!]
For other services
and general information regarding provision of public transport, school
services, concessionary passes etc., then the Dorset Council site is very useful:
Dorset Council: TravelDorset
Another very useful
site for all timetables across the southwest of England (and indeed
elsewhere across the UK), which also offers a useful journey planner,
not just for bus and coach operations, but railway services too; other
areas of the country are served via this site:
