NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY:

** Memory Box sessions **
Memory Box sessions, run by the Wessex Heritage Trust, are exciting reminiscence-based activities funded by the National Lottery and available monthly in the Library. Free sessions are open to all groups of people including those with memory loss and those supporting them. West Moors library has been on its current site for over 40 years. During this time it has changed dramatically. In 2003 an extension was added to provide computer facilities and a meeting area during and out of opening hours. Money was bequeathed to the Parish Council by Daphne Harrison which was used for the building whilst Dorset County Council library service provided the computer facilities.
The Library is centrally located on Station Road, at the corner with Moorlands Road. It is conveniently adjacent to the local shopping centre. Access to the building is easy to obtain for those with mobility restrictions - with door-activation pads for wheelchair users. There is a small car park at the rear.
Facilities:
Along with the building the library service too has been transformed. No longer are you expected to be very quiet - in fact you are encouraged to join in the many events we host. Self-service machines were introduced several years ago and all computers recently upgraded. We have also had the outside of the building recently refurbished with new windows and pathway and inside new heating system and up dated lighting.
We now see ourselves as an information point and community facility. Books are no longer the only thing we offer!
